Arts Collaboratory

With the imagination of the Congolese artist and writer Bill Kouélany, the ATELIERS SAHM are dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of contemporary literature and artistic expressions of Congo. Marked by the personality of the artist and the country’s history, the workshops were designed as a space of construction and reconstruction. They tend to encourage the creation and customization of Congolese artists and critical
arts to develop a cultural and a new generation of designers with the ability to report on the international scene.

This project that aims is to provide innovative and mentoring to young artists and writers through workshops that will be taking place each year between September and December. International professionals will support the participants to develop a solid foundation in the fields of video, painting and critical art. The works to be produced during these workshops will be exhibited and the best Congolese artists in each field
will be rewarded.

The ATELIERS SAHM aim is to professionalize their activities in promoting access to art
materials and to develop a network of professional tools and structure promotion. The art center plays the role of platform Ensuring recognition of artist’ work at national and international level.

In the heart of Brazzaville, in a building under construction, will be held the ATELIERS SAHM on about 440m², rooms for workshops, a library/video, an exhibition room and artists residence. This will enable the best artists discovered during workshops to receive a workspace and coaching to enable them to develop and project personal artistic project with the perspective to present their work on the international scene. The ATELIERS SAHM are a place of exchange and enrichment and also host international artists wishing to develop a project of creation in connection with the Congo or in cooperation with Congolese artists.

The ATELIERS SAHM are made in collaboration with Coeur d’Artiste, Association founded in 2003 by Omer Magloire MAYOUMA to overcome a lack of administration in the management of artistic project. This association will put his experience to service workshops.
