Britto Arts Trust

Bangladesh

Britto Arts Trust is an autonomous, artists’ led organisation registered as non-profit. Britto was set up in 2002 in Dhaka, Bangladesh and is part of the world-wide network of Triangle Arts Trust.

As the first of its kind in Bangladesh, Britto has become an important alternative platform for artists. The organisation encourages experimentation and the development of new ideas in the visual arts, through activities that support emerging artists and bring new contemporary art to the local community. Britto’s main objective is to facilitate dialogue and exchange opportunities for artists, encourage the development of high quality artworks and create a platform for critical discourse and interaction between artists from the region, as well as different parts of the world. Britto supports and encourages experimentation within a diverse range of media and develops new ways of thinking beyond the religious, economic, ethnic and political divisions in Bangladesh and internationally.

To date, Britto has worked with numerous international artists from countries including: India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Japan, Maldives, Hong Kong, France, Germany, UK, Pakistan, Myanmar, Mexico, Uganda, Australia, Fiji Islands, Mauritius, Jordan, Egypt, South Africa, Taiwan and Indonesia. We also have sent a number of Bangladeshi artists to work abroad within and beyond the Triangle Network.
