Making Snowballs

The Netherlands

One snowflake doesn’t make a snowball. You have to unite all those little pieces and then start rolling, till it gets bigger, and bigger and bigger…

As part of a mutual interest in turning ideas into real projects curators Anne van der Zwaag and Joanna van der Zanden joined forces and founded The Making Snowballs Foundation in 2011. Main goal of the foundation is to initiate and stimulate cross-disciplinary, cultural projects with a social and sustainable agenda. The first project the foundation initiated is Make a Forest, a global art and design project connecting culture with nature.

United Nations announced 2011 International Year of Forests. We have to rethink ways of sustainable forest management, locally and globally. Make a Forest is a creative response to the need to preserve and protect forests and a very visible way to explain and support the United Nation’s cause.
